Q30. What are the chemical storage types and conditions?

Starting in the filing year 2013, EPA switched to using full descriptive phrases (rather than codes) for container type, pressure, and temperature.

1. For each chemical, you must report at least one storage location.
2. For each storage location, you must a) enter/select a storage type, b) select pressure and temperature conditions, and c) provide a brief description of the precise location of the chemical.

STORAGE TYPES (CODES) - You can pick one of the following storage types or type in your storage type.

• Above ground tank (A)
• Below ground tank (B)
• Tank inside building (C)
• Steel drum (D)
• Plastic or non-metallic drum (E)
• Can (F)
• Carboy (G)
• Silo (H)
• Fiber drum (I)
• Bag (J)
• Box (K)
• Cylinder (L)
• Glass bottles or jugs (M)
• Plastic bottles or jugs (N)
• Tote bin (O)
• Tank wagon (P)
• Rail car (Q)
• Battery
• Outside Storage Pile (Added in EPA Tier2 Submit 2017)

PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS (CODES)

You must pick one Pressure condition.

• Ambient pressure (1);
• Greater than ambient pressure (2); or
• Less than ambient pressure (3).

You must pick one Temperature condition.

• Ambient temperature (4);
• Greater than ambient temperature (5);
• Less than ambient temperature but not cryogenic (6); or
• Cryogenic conditions (7).
